The story began in 1994 when PSP was formed to allow Paul Shuttleworth to be the DJ and Promotions Manager, as a subcontractor, at Telford Ice Rink. Within two years Paul branched out into roadshows and outdoor events for Beacon Radio and Birmingham Cable who later became Telewest. In 1996 Paul presented Carlton Select's UK promotional tour and soon headed up campaigns for Guinness and Stella around the UK. PSP's first branch into terrestrial Television was when Paul refereed Ice Warriors for ITV 1 in 1998. Throughout these events PSP provided DJ's for Telford Ice Rink, Nightclubs, Private Parties and Corporate Events which developed into what PSP provides today as detailed on this site.
Paul began his radio career at Beacon Radio as a roadshow and travel cover presenter in 1996. Since then he has worked for Buzz FM, on the Launch of Kicks 96 in Coventry and been resident in the BRMB Radio Cafe Â©. In 1999 Paul started at Telford FM as a travel presenter, before moving to present the breakfast show in 2002 - a position Paul continues to hold. Paul also provides voice tracked shows for The Wyre, The Severn, Switch Radio, Radio Sandwell and Gaydio1. Paul writes presents and produces a speech based discussion show called the forum which is unique in its format and the fact that it is used for mentoring and training presenters that are on the panel of the show.
Paul is a qualified Further Education Lecture and teaches Radio Production for Headline Media, Sandwell Afro Caribbean Development Agency and Telford College of Arts & Technology. Paul has also developed a short radio course to help work on confidence, literacy, numeracy and information technology skills that are currently being used on unemployment training programmes. PSP have developed a programme that can be delivered in youth groups and programmes as well as developing and delivering training programmes for community stations.
Paul began his club DJ'ing at Cascades in 1996 when he was approached at the Ice Rink by a local club manager and has been in the game ever since. Paul is a personality led commercial DJ who has amassed vast experience doing private event discos.
Store Openings and Events
Paul currently fronts store openings for Curry's Megastores, Maplin Electronics, Netto and Perfect Homes regularly, there is also a long list of occasional clients. This is a forte of Paul's - playing background music to lift the mood of staff and customers whilst working the mic to increase customer spend through offers & promotions and increase footfall using the external PA. Paul opened the Currys Junction 9 megastore that took over £1.2 million on the first day and resulted in the closure of Junction 9 of the M6. Paul hosted the opening of the country's first Dixons XL on the day the Bull Ring in Birmingham opened back in 2003. Paul has also done hundreds of events for small local stores, shopping centres and countless outdoor events. In 2007 Paul was flown to New York to open Easy Home's first American store.
Corporate & Public Events
Paul has fronted, presented and produced a massive variety of events including Dawley Day - an annual local family fun day for over five thousand people for over seven years. He's also presented the corporate and conference work for Mitsubishi, Maplin Electronics, Netto and Telford United Football Club.
Paul is a experienced voice over artist doing regular voice overs for MNA Broadcasting, Shropshire Star Videos and Voice 123 (an online agency doing voice overs for TV, radio and online usage). Paul is also the game announcer for the Telford Ice Hockey and has done game announcing for the BBC Ice Hockey Challenge Cup. Paul also does all the game commentary for the Star's Ice Hockey coverage.
Paul has fronted the light entertainment videos for the Shropshire Star since 2006. Paul has also directed and edited all of the video footage and full length DVDs of Telford Talent, a series of 10 auditions and a live theatre show.
